CAS to decide Almeria fate

Almeria must wait until at least May 20 to learn if they will have three points deducted by FIFA over the Michael Jakobsen case.

The issue concerns the Andalusians’ signing of the defender from Esbjerg in 2011, with the Danes claiming they are owed between €50,000 and €60,000 in royalties.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has summoned Almeria to Switzerland for the verdict, which will come just a few days before the final game of the La Liga season when they are set to face Valencia at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos.

The ruling could have a significant impact on the fight for top-flight safety with Almeria currently just two points above the drop zone, where to date only Cordoba have been mathematically relegated to La Segunda.
