Berizzo: ‘Celta threw points away’

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo felt his side threw away the points after surrendering a two-goal lead at Almeria.

Goals from Nolito and Santi Mina gave the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead, but Thievy Bifouma and Jonathan equalised after the break with both teams reduced to 10 men after Gustavo Cabral and Mauro Dos Santos were dismissed.

“We lost two points after an acceptable first half in which the game went in our favour,” the Argentine told a Press conference.

“The sending off in the first few minutes of the second half complicated things but we had the lead and should have coped better.

“We didn’t think we had the game won, although we didn’t play as we can after the break, but when that occurs things get very tense and that’s what happened.

“We conceded a goal and became more nervous, while Almeria could easily have won the game if they had kept 11 men on the pitch.

“However, we are still in the fight for seventh place,” declared Berizzo, whose team are in ninth two points behind Athletic Bilbao.
