Tevez: ‘Madrid-Juve will be open’

Carlos Tevez says he is expecting an open match when his Juventus team take on Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first leg in Turin.

The Argentine also believes the outcome of the tie is too difficult to call and insists there are no favourites.

“It’s going to be difficult because it’s going to be hard-fought and open,” Tevez told a Press conference.

“I imagine both legs will be fiercely contested and the side who performs best and makes least mistakes overall will be the ones to go through, although I don’t think there is a favourite.”

Tevez also revealed the secret behind Juve’s recent success, the Bianconeri having secured a fourth consecutive Scudetto at the weekend.

“We are a team with a group of players who respect the club’s history and the shirt we wear. That’s why we have managed to get so far in the Champions League.

“We always remember that we’ve won the League and are in the final of the Cup.”

The 31-year-old admitted he did not expect to be contesting a semi-final of Europe’s premier club competition so quickly after joining the club from Manchester City in June 2013.

“I didn’t think I’d be playing in the Champions League semi-final so soon but I did expect us to win the League and go far in Europe.

“When Juve showed an interest in bringing me here my intention was to plan an important future with them. [Boss] Allegri and [President} Agnelli had a dream, which was to win the Champions League,” he said, before being asked his opinion on Alvaro Morata, who signed for Juve from Real Madrid last summer.

“Alvaro has really improved over the past four or five months and he’s really grown as a player.

“He’s full of confidence and ready to play a game of this level. He’s a great player and this game won’t intimidate him,” he asserted.
