Josep Maria Bartomeu has dropped the strongest hint yet Luis Enrique will continue on the Barcelona bench.
Bartomeu was interviewed by Esport 3 on a number of topics, including Pep Guardiola’s return to Camp Nou with Bayern Munich.
When the conversation turned to the current Barca Coach, Bartomeu was fulsome in his praise.
“We’re not thinking about a season without Luis Enrique,” Bartomeu is quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.
“Little by little he has managed to form a group and a great block. It was difficult at Anoeta, but we made changes and should be pleased at the team’s reaction,” the President said, AS adds.
“There is always something going on in a team. It wasn’t easy to take over a team with so many new players.
“There’s no mystery [about Enrique’s lack of involvement in the transfer committee]. He is focused on the first team and we have time to prepare for next season.
“He has a contract with Barcelona and he’s asked so many times and for this reason he wants the focus on the work we have to do.”
