Nuno demands Valencia response

Nuno Santo has demanded a return to winning ways from Valencia when they host Eibar in La Liga on Sunday.

Los Che have won just two of their last six matches, a sequence which has allowed Sevilla to draw level with them in fourth place, but they could open a three-point lead over the Andalucians with victory over Gaizka Garitano’s strugglers at Mestalla.

“We could have done with another result [at Rayo Vallecano],” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“We reflected on our performance and scrutinised ourselves about what needs to improve.

“Tomorrow is the first step. We want to compete, get the three points at the Mestalla and then continue to prepare for our remaining games.

“[Shkodran] Mustafi’s okay. He picked up a sprain but could play against Eibar.

“Pablo [Piatti] was returning from an injury and we knew we could give him 45 minutes at Vallecas.

“He trained well and put in a great shift for the team. We’ll assess the option of reusing him as he’s close to reaching form.

“We have four finals left. These next four games will be a reflection of our work for the year.

“The team have improved their performances and I’ve been convinced by the players’ work and quality.

“[Eibar] are a team who want to stay in La Liga and have much merit in what they’re doing. We know it’ll be a tough game.

“[On Rodrigo Moreno’s red card at Rayo], I usually talk to the players after the game.. We share opinions and reflect on things together.

“What I did with Rodrigo was the same as with others. Rodrigo’s aware that he was wrong. He reacted to provocation and made a mistake.”
