Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas claims he has grown accustomed to being made a scapegoat by the media after reaching another career landmark.
The goalkeeper has come under fire in recent seasons for a perceived dip in performance levels, but he joined legendary shot-stopper Andoni Zubizarreta on 333 wins courtesy of Los Blancos’ 3-2 victory over Sevilla on Saturday.
“I’m an easy target, I’m picked on [by the media] for months but take it with humour,” he said after the game.
“[Matching Zubizarreta’s record of 333 wins?] They are impressive numbers, but I don’t notice them. Instead, I savour them.
“[Sergio Ramos in central midfield?] The Coach will make the best decision [against Juve] on Tuesday. We arrive in Turin with smiles on our faces.
“We’ll play against tough opponents [in Valencia], who are playing for a place in the Champions League. We have to win every game if we want to win La Liga.
“[Sevilla’s penalty] was a difficult moment, but we won a difficult match and suffered against opponents who deserve to be where they are with some very good players.
“[Cristiano Ronaldo] hadn’t scored for three or four games. Now, he’s scored three goals to keep us in the title race, which isn’t in our hands.
“When we approached this game [against Sevilla], we knew Barcelona had won and that only a good result would do. We took a step forward and will fight until the end.”
