Moyes ‘100% staying’ at La Real

David Moyes has categorically denied reports linking him with a return to the Premier League, saying he is ‘100% staying’ at Real Sociedad.

Former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes took over at Anoeta midway through the season after Jagoba Arrasate was removed as Coach.

But the Scot has frequently been linked with a return to England and, at a Press conference to preview La Real’s game against Levante, was asked directly about his future.

“Can you assure 100% you will continue with La Real?” Moyes was asked. “Yes,” came the matter-of-fact reply, according to AS.

“I think there are always people looking for things, there is interest, but I will say my plan is to stay here and that hasn’t changed. I have always said the same thing.”

Moyes was also asked about Levante and the midweek Basque derby, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

“I enjoyed most of the game but I think we’ve played well in other games. We’ve played at that level in other games,” he recalled.

“We need to repeat that intensity, I agree, but it doesn’t happen in every game, not even the best teams do that, it’s impossible.

“We have worked with intensity and not lost many games since I arrived because we are strong but also there’s many we haven’t won because we haven’t been good in attack, but I think we’ve begun to improve.

“We’ve tried to play hard from day one but it’s difficult in Spain because the referees make it complicated.

“There will be changes [against Levante] because we’ve had three games in six days and that makes it difficult to recover.

“Levante will be a difficult game because of how deep they play away from home and it’s difficult when you don’t score a lot of goals.

“They’re a very tough opponent but the key is to play with intensity. They’ll play with five defenders.”
