Herrera & Silva for Barca?

Barcelona have held talks with Manchester City over David Silva and are monitoring Ander Herrera at Manchester United, reports claim.

Sport say there has been direct contact between Barca’s sporting department and the Premier League champions, with Silva the topic of discussion.

City are about to give up the title to Chelsea and as a result of their limp defence of the trophy, an overhaul is expected this summer.

Silva could be allowed to go as part of the shake-up and Barca are open to the signing of the Spain international, but don’t want to pay more than €30m.

Barca aren’t dissuaded by Silva’s age, 29, and feel that at the right price he could be a valuable addition to the squad for the short and medium-term.

Silva is said to be aware of the situation and there could be further developments in coming weeks.

Herrera is also said by Sport to be on the agenda as United are also expected to see an influx of new faces this summer.

The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder only moved to Old Trafford in 2014 but would welcome the right offer to return to Spain.

Herrera has long been linked with Barca and nearly joined when Pep Guardiola was on the bench, Sport note.

A fee for Herrera isn’t clear but Barca would be reluctant to go past €25m, it’s alleged, but might need to reach €30m.

There are however obstacles to any transfers, not least the transfer embargo currently in force.

But Barca have also made Juventus’ Paul Pogba their primary target and sealing his signature is the priority of the technical committee, and they’re not giving up on the France international yet.
