Atleti may recall loan players

Atletico Madrid may recall some of their loan players if they are hit with a transfer ban by FIFA.

Reports in Spain have suggested Los Rojiblancos, as well as neighbours Real Madrid, could be prevented from signing players in the next two transfer windows for breaching the rules concerning the signing of young players.

Despite the club maintaining there is nothing to be alarmed about just yet, and that they have done nothing wrong, a report in Marca claims in the event of a ban Atleti would likely bring back some of their loanees and limit the number of players allowed to leave.

At the moment Atletico have 16 players at other clubs, although three of them – Joshua Guilavogui at Wolfsburg, Javi Manquillo at Liverpool and Alessio Cerci at Milan – have signed deals that will keep them at their respective clubs until 2016.

The 16-man list contains names such as goalkeeper Bono, defenders Toby Alderweireld [pictured], Emiliano Insua, Emiliano Velazquez and Silvio, midfielders Oliver Torres, Ruben Perez and Christian ‘Cebolla’ Rodriguez, and strikers Leo Baptistao and Borja Baston.

In the case of Oliver Torres and Alderweireld, they would more than likely return to the Vicente Calderon irrespective of any sanction, while in the latter’s case Southampton have an option to make his loan permanent for €8.5m.
