Newcastle target Rayo boss

Reports in Spain suggest Newcastle United are targeting Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez as their next manager.

The Magpies are on a downward spiral have suffered seven consecutive Premier League defeats and are understood to be looking to replace caretaker boss John Carver in the summer.

According to Marca, they are taking a keen in interest in Jemez, who has been earning rave reviews at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas for his brand of entertaining football and will be out of contract in June.

Jemez has been with the Madrid club for three years since taking Cordoba to the Segunda play-offs, having previously been in charge at Cartagena and hometown club Las Palmas.

It is understood the 45-year-old would be open to a move to England and Newcastle see him as a viable proposition as they look towards the Spanish market for new affordable players.
