Gracia plans Malaga changes

Malaga boss Javi Gracia plans to make changes to his starting line-up for Wednesday’s clash with Celta Vigo at Balaidos.

Despite naming the same squad chosen for Sunday’s 1-1 home draw with Deportivo la Coruna, the 44-year-old believes it will benefit some players if they are rested due to the heavy schedule of three games in a week.

“There will be a few changes because the team needs it from a physical point of view, so we have to alter things,” Gracia told a Press conference.

“I try to be realistic and demanding at the same time because I think we have to improve and anticipate what could happen if we carry on as we have been doing.

“There are a lot of things we can be better at, not only in front of goal, and with respect to our last game we were bad defensively, although it was not only the defenders but the whole team.”

Gracia acknowledges a win for Los Blanquiazules would be more than welcome as his team has not tasted victory since a 2-0 home success over Cordoba in mid-March.

“Our aim is to get a win as soon as possible to strengthen us and give renewed hope because the reality is that we are still seventh with five games remaining.

“Celta are a team that is going through a purple patch but we’ll be going there prepared for anything, although this is their opportunity to reduce the gap between them and ourselves, “he maintained.
