Romero wants competitive Cordoba

Jose Antonio Romero has called for his Cordoba players to remain competitive in their uphill battle for top-flight safety.

The Andalusians are all but doomed to be playing their football in La Segunda next season as they sit bottom of the table and 11 points from safety.

Nonetheless, Romero refuses to throw in the towel just yet and is hoping for a good performance from his players in Tuesday night’s game against Levante at the Ciutat de Valencia.

“We want to be in a competitive state of mind in all areas of the pitch,” Romero told a Press conference.

“We don’t just want to live for the day but the hour, because we are in great need of the points. My players have already recognised that and will be working hard to take all three.

“My subconscious tells me that we won’t go down after this game at Levante, who are a very practical team and will want to cement their place in the top division, particularly after beating Getafe 1-0 last week.”
