Eibar boss walks out on Press

Eibar boss Gaizka Garitano walked out of a post-match Press conference following the 2-0 defeat to Almeria.

Garitano got up and stormed out on reporters after they complained that he had answered the first two questions in Euskera, the Basque language.

Goals from Thievy Bifouma and Verza condemned relegation-threatened Eibar to defeat and Garitano was in no mood to oblige local journalist after the game.

The first question posed to Garitano was in Euskera, which he promptly in answered, but when local journalists protested after he answered a second question in the same language he opted to get up and leave the newsroom.

However, Garitano later appeared on Cadena SER’s ‘El Larguero’ programme to explain his attitude.

“When I go on Basque TV I answer in Euskera, but after the Almeria game they wouldn’t let me answer so I decided to get up and go.

“Every week I’m asked questions in Euskera and I respond in that language, the same with Castilian. If they asked me in English I’d try to answer in English.

“I tried to do my job at the Press conference and they wouldn’t let me so I left,” he argued.
