Iniesta: Job done for Barca

Andres Iniesta praised his Barcelona teammates for getting the job done in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Espanyol at Cornella-El Prat.

Goals from Neymar and Lionel Messi in the Catalan derby were enough to keep La Blaugrana two points clear atop La Liga, despite Jordi Alba’s red card, while the midfielder was substituted to widespread acclaim from both sets of fans.

“There’s a connection between myself and the fans. I appreciate their applause,” he said after the game.

“It was a very complete performance. To win the derby, we had to play well.

“We didn’t concede many chances and were effective. We’re happy and content.

“I prefer playing with 11. With 10, you have to make more of an effort, but we kept going and put in the type of performance needed to win the game.

“It’s both great and difficult at the same time [referring to Barca’s challenge on three fronts].

“Every match is a final and they’ll be decided by details. We’re taking everything seriously and keep picking up wins.”
