Ter Stegen admits Barca ‘difficulty’

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has admitted it has been difficult sharing the No 1 jersey with Claudio Bravo this season.

The German is yet to make his La Liga bow for the Blaugrana despite consistently featuring in the Champions League, yet he maintains he does not feel like an understudy to the Chilean.

“In no way do I feel like an understudy. I’ve never seen an understudy playing regularly in the Champions League,” stated Ter Stegen in an interview with German magazine 11Freunde.

“It’s normal for Barcelona to need more than one top-class goalkeeper but it’s not a nice situation, that’s no secret, and obviously I’d like to play in every match.

“But there’s no problem between the two of us and we speak regularly. I’d never wish anything bad upon him but I am trying to get the upper hand.”

Ter Stegen, 23, joined the Catalans from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer for a reported €12m fee.
