Henry criticises ‘Chicharito’

Thierry Henry has criticised Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez for not celebrating his winning strike against Atletico Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Mexican notched the only goal of the game on 88 minutes to send Real Madrid into the Champions League semi-finals but, speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports, the Frenchman believed Hernandez should have given Ronaldo more credit after he hit the back of the net.

“Chicharito celebrated the only goal of the game but it was Cristiano Ronaldo who changed the course of the match,” argued Henry.

“He saw Hernandez in a better position after he realised he couldn’t shoot himself, so he didn’t take any risks and gave him the ball.

“The goal is Ronaldo’s and I didn’t like the fact Chicharito was celebrating as if he’d won the World Cup. He should have gone back and thanked Ronaldo.

“He was given the opportunity, but he still doesn’t know when he’ll play again because he had a couple of clear opportunities and missed them.”
