Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has reiterated his desire to remain at the club following the Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid.
Casillas has been linked with a possible move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer following speculation the club want to sign a replacement ‘keeper.
However, the 33-year-old is adamant he would like to stay with the Los Blancos, even if it means he has to be content with a place on the bench.
“I still want to win more trophies and have two years left on my contract, which I hope to fulfil,” he told Canal Plus.
“This commitment is firm and must be seen through until the end. I have to earn it and train for it and I’ll fight for the position, but just because I’m Iker and have won the World Cup doesn’t mean I should be first choice.
“I’m now at an age where you look at things differently. If I’m not No 1 then I still have an obligation towards the younger players,” insisted Casillas.
