Casillas hints at Madrid future

Iker Casillas has said he won’t leave Real Madrid if he isn’t the first choice. ‘Why won’t I stay if I’m not starting?’

Casillas kept goal as Los Blancos beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final and spoke about the fixture after the final whistle.

“Atletico always make it difficult, it was a difficult tie, but we deserved to go through,” he said, AS reports.

“Things are decided by details. Chicharito got the goal that had evaded us.

“We had to fight and struggle. Aside from having great players they are a team that fight. You have to get used to how to play like that. We were strong in the middle.

“We’re talking about four great teams [in the semi-finals], four champions of Europe. There are very nice, exciting semis ahead, whoever we have to play.”

The talk then turned to his individual future, and what his plans are at Santiago Bernabeu.

“I wish and hope to win the most number of trophies, hope to fulfil my contract and a commitment is something you sign up for until the end,” San Iker said.

“But I have to earn it and train for it. I will fight and fight for the position.

“I’m already at an age and things are seen differently. If I’m not starting I have a commitment to the young players. Why wouldn’t I continue at Madrid if I’m not starting?”
