Masche not thinking of CL final

Javier Mascherano warned Barcelona not to look past the Champions League semi-finals after beating Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar scored twice as Barca downed PSG 2-0 on the night, 5-1 on aggregate, to reach the last four for the eighth time in 10 years.

Mascherano spoke to reporters after the final whistle and explained what went into the win, and where Barca go from here.

“We went with the right mind-set. Against a team like us, if you plan on defending, you suffer more,” he said, AS reports.

“Our idea was always to win the game from the first minute. We knew the [first leg] result was in our favour but we wanted to win the game.

“It’s important for the club [to reach the semi-final]. We set ourselves that target before the start of the season. It sounds easy, but it’s difficult.

“There are two games to play before the final. I hope we play two great games and get there. It would be very nice.

“The mentality we brought to the match was correct. A goal for them and they were back in the game. To avoid that we went out and controlled the game and avoided all the risks that you run against a team of great quality.

“Favourites? It changes from day to day. Every team plays a lot of games, now we rest and think about Saturday’s game [against Espanyol], which is complicated.

“You have to go game by game. The most important is the next one. If you think about what’s coming, you go wrong.”

Masche was also asked specifically about Bayern Munich, who crushed Porto 6-1 after losing the first leg 3-1.

“Anyone would be a difficult opponent, so it’s not going to be easy,” he replied.

“But we have tools as well and we can be optimistic and fight as equals.”
