Bartomeu on Pogba, Messi and PSG

Josep Maria Bartomeu has given his view on a number of subjects, including Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and the visit of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Barcelona President spoke to Radio Monte Carlo on the eve of the Blaugrana taking on PSG in the Champions League and, in fluent French, was asked about Messi and the rumoured signing of Pogba from Juventus.

“We are working with a leader like Messi, who is the best footballer in the world, but surely he also has a place in history. He has a place here at Barca until he decides to quit playing football.

“As for Pogba, he is a great player but at this moment we are not thinking about making any additions. It’s true we have a FIFA sanction that prevents us from bringing in players until January 2016, so we are working on some players arriving and others leaving.

“We are getting ready for next season but I won’t provide any names here. Pogba is a good player, one who still has a contract with an Italian team and I greatly respect that.

“Right now I don’t expect us to recruit, but everyone wants to have great players. We also have players other clubs would like.”

Finally, he commented on Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with PSG.

“It’s going to be very tough, very difficult, and it’s a Champions League match we must go into with the greatest respect.”
