Luka Modric wants to return to action this season despite the Real Madrid midfielder having been ruled out for six weeks.
Modric suffered a knee injury on Saturday against Malaga and the diagnosis would leave him unlikely to play again this campaign.
Croatia Coach Niko Kovac is hoping to have Modric for a June international while the national team doctor laid the blame for the injury at the feet of Carlo Ancelotti.
“I felt dizzy from the blow I received. It really hurt a lot,” Modric told Sportske Novosti, according to AS.
“I knew right away that something had happened. I’m sad for being injured again but I have to keep my head up.
“My goal is to recover before the end of the season. Maybe I can recover quickly and play some League games. I will try with all my strength.
“After four months injured I was feeling good again and had regained my best form. But now this has happened and I have to try and keep my head up and to try and be with my teammates again soon.”
