Jemez unhappy despite Rayo win

Paco Jemez was highly critical of Rayo Vallecano despite the 2-0 win over Almeria, comparing his side to a third division team.

Goals from Antonio Amaya and Miku delivered the points but speaking to reporters after the final whistle, Jemez was far from celebratory.

“I don’t think it’s a day for congratulations, not even with the win,” he said, AS reports.

“We scored the goal and we were fine, but then we lost the ball at a Tercera level, always a second too late.

“I am not happy and I will do everything possible so that it doesn’t happen again. I have to find solutions and I know what I have to do.

“The way we played today, we have no chance of finishing seventh. If we improve we can do, but as we competed and played today we have no chance. We have to find a solution.

“I don’t think we relaxed. Maybe [the players] have given me everything and can’t give more. Then I’ll be eternally grateful if that’s it.

“Maybe some players are out of gas. Maybe it’s time for those who haven’t been playing. I get the feeling everyone will get an opportunity.

“We have to raise the competitive level so all those that play go to 100%. We won but if we play this way against Valencia and Sevilla it’s going to go badly.”
