Bale out for two to three weeks

Gareth Bale is facing at least two weeks on the sidelines after it was confirmed he suffered a calf injury in Real Madrid’s win over Malaga.

AS reports Bale has injured the soleus muscle of his left leg, the muscle at the back of the calf that runs from the knee to the heel.

He underwent tests on Monday morning to discover the extent of the damage and the club released a statement that confirmed the diagnosis.

It’s estimated Bale will be out for between two and three weeks, meaning he will not only miss the Champions League quarter-final second leg with Atletico Madrid but would be doubtful for the semi-final, should Madrid get past their city rivals.

The semi-finals are scheduled for May 5/6 and May 12/13.

Bale joins Luka Modric on the injured list, the playmaker out for six weeks, while Karim Benzema is also a doubt for Wednesday’s derby and Marcelo is suspended.
