‘Celta were better but Eibar fought’

Gaizka Garitano admitted Celta Vigo were the better team in their Primera meeting but praised Eibar for competing until the very end.

A Nolito penalty late in the first half settled the tie and while Garitno acknowledged his side were second best, he insisted he was taking a lot of positives from the match.

“Celta were superior, but the team gave everything,” he said, AS reports.

“We faced a great opponent and fought until the team. We can be happy with that attitude.

“We weren’t good technically but the team has worked terribly until the final whistle. I’ll take the good attitude.

“We had big problems with the ball, because we lost it easily. We had to run a lot to get it back. If we don’t improve with the ball we’ll have a lot of problems.

“In the Primera there are a lot of levels and we have to improve. But the team gives everything until the end and we’re still alive.

“With this attitude and doing better on the ball we’ll win games. The important thing is not to lose heart, not bow our heads. That’s what worries me. We don’t have Primera experience but we can’t lose our heads.”
