Malaga defender Miguel Torres believes his team are going to have to suffer at times if they are to take anything from Real Madrid this Saturday.
The Andalusians go to the Santiago Bernabeu never having won a League game there in their entire history and Torres, who made over 50 appearances for Los Blancos earlier in his career, acknowledges the uphill task Javi Gracia’s men will face.
“We know how they play and the players they have, while few teams get more possession than Madrid at the Bernabeu,” the 29-year-old told a Press conference.
“We’ll have to be smart because we are aware there will be times when we need to suffer, so we must be organised and strong.
“From there, we have a lot of quality players in attack who are quick and we’ll get chances to score, but Madrid are a special team and their fans help them right up to the end so it will be very difficult.”
Torres does not feel that Madrid’s involvement in the Champions League quarter-finals next week, where they face a second-leg clash with Atletico Madrid, will affect them adversely against Malaga.
“These kind of teams have players, those that start and those on the bench, who would get into any side in the world.
“They’ve had a physically demanding game this week but against us, with the situation they are in playing for the title, they’ll approach things at 100 per cent.
“We don’t believe they’ll have their minds on the Champions League return leg and it will be tough, but you’ve always got to work hard in these matches,” he affirmed.
