UEFA are to carry out an investigation into incidents at Tuesday’s Champions League tie between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

The first will centre on organisational problems at the Vicente Calderon that caused stadium access points to be blocked, which conflicts with article 38 of UEFA’s security rules.

“The home side is responsible for ensuring all passageways, stairways, turnstiles, access gates and emergency exits are kept clear of any obstruction that impedes the free movement of spectators,” it states.

The other is to focus on a pitch invasion at the final whistle when a spectator ran onto the pitch and attempted to embrace Los Blancos striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

The invader was captured by security staff right away but AS reports that UEFA are understood to consider the matter serious enough to carry out an inquiry.
