‘I want Madrid stay until I’m 40!’

Jese Rodriguez has rubbished reports that he could leave Real Madrid this summer following his comeback goal against Eibar on Saturday.

The winger had struggled for game time since he returned from a long-term knee injury in December but marked his first start for Los Blancos in over a year with the final goal in a 3-0 victory over the Basques at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’m here to carry out anything the Coach asks of me,” he said in response to questions about his future at Madrid after the game.

“I’d retire at Madrid. I came here as a 13-year-old, I’m now 22 and I’d like to leave when I’m 40.

“I’m very happy here. This is the club of my life.

“The Coach had the same injury as mine [when he was a player] and he knows how I’ve felt.

“It was a process which took many months. I’ll finish the season strongly, I’m sure.

"It was a tough injury, but there have been players with the same injury who got less minutes than me.

“The Coach trusts me and I can feel it. You have to understand him. He’s the best [Coach] in the world and it’s not easy for him.

“Are the BBC untouchable? I’ll continue working hard to try changing the Coach’s mind.”
