Pablo Franco revelled in Getafe’s ‘perfect day’ as their 1-0 victory over Elche on Thursday was supported by rivals dropping points.
El Geta effectively achieved safety in La Liga as they moved 10 points clear of the relegation places thanks to a second straight win at the Martinez Valero, boosted by Eibar being the only other team in the dogfight to register a positive result.
“The result is very important and the day has been perfect for us as only Eibar won [in the relegation mix],” the Coach said after the game.
“We’ve earned six points against our rivals in the table, which is fabulous. We’ve now left the area of the teams fighting for relegation and joined those who have other objectives.
“The match was very open and Elche took the initiative of the game at times, but we worked hard defensively and had the wisdom to score the winner.”
