Franco urges Getafe not to relax

Pablo Franco has urged his Getafe players not to relax following Sunday’s 2-1 home win over Deportivo la Coruna.

The Madrid outfit are away to Elche on Thursday night and despite being seven points clear of the drop zone Franco believes there is still a lot of work to be done before the end of the season.

“We have a long way to go and this match is very important. The situation in the table means we have to keep working,” he told a Press conference.

“Elche are a direct rival and the game will be significant. There isn’t a great gap between us as they are fighting for the same as us and they will be really focused.

“At home they work well, particularly against teams near the bottom, and if we don’t put in more effort than them we are going to suffer.

“They will play with a lot of intensity and we must compete. I think it will be very like the Deportivo game because there are many similarities which we were working on last week.

“We have to take advantage of that and as the game wears on we need to be clever enough to keep possession and play in their half of the pitch.

“If we are able to do that then we will get opportunities to win the game,” he concluded.
