Resino laments ‘stupid’ Celta goal

Abel Resino was left to rue the loss of two very important points as struggling Granada drew 1-1 with Celta Vigo at Los Carmenes.

Substitute Theo Bondonga scored the equaliser in stoppage time after Robert Ibanez had given the hosts an early lead, while the Andalusians had to survive the final 50 minutes of the game with 10 men after Jeison Murillo was dismissed for picking up two yellow cards within two minutes.

“My players made a commendable effort because we were at a disadvantage against a team that moves the ball well,” Resino told a Press conference.

“However, we gave away a goal in the most stupid way possible with a hanging ball, which is easy to defend against. We did well at the back otherwise, but it would help if we had a bit of luck every now and then.

“[Referee] Alvaro Izquierdo has the knack of giving out cards for nothing and Murillo’s sending-off had a big influence on the game.

“We now have to continue working hard, there’s no other way, and we have to get ourselves back up for Saturday because we have another very important game,” he concluded.

Granada move on to 24 points but stay second bottom of La Primera, three away from safety, while Celta go above Espanyol into 11th spot.
