Trashorras reflects on Madrid defeat

Roberto Trashorras has reflected on Rayo Vallecano’s 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid and feels his side could have got more from the game.

Second-half strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez eventually put Carlo Ancelotti’s men in charge, although it was far from easy going before the break when the home team were unfortunate not to have taken the lead.

“Overall it was a good game and we had the chances to have gone ahead,” Trashorras told Canal Plus.

“They put more players in midfield, particularly when Isco came on, but we still had our opportunities. They scored with the first shot they had and it’s possible that they were fresher than us after half-time.

“When you are in control and playing so high up the pitch it tends to wear you out, although we still had chances in the second half. But they had the BBC and didn’t defend so much late on.

“[Iker] Casillas made three good saves, one of them from me, and at that time I think we were in control and deserved a goal.

“However, if you don’t get one you know they can score themselves at any time on the counter-attack and it’s very difficult to stop them,” he explained.
