Resino seeking Granada redemption

Granada boss Abel Resino believes Wednesday’s match against Celta Vigo provides his team with a timely opportunity to get themselves back on track.

The Andalucians’ hopes of survival – and goal difference – took a hammer blow after their 9-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid last week, but the Coach is keen to wipe the slate clean.

“For me, Sunday’s game is finished, as I explained at the Press conference afterwards in Madrid,” he said at a Press conference.

“Much of the blame lies with me, I can accept it but I don’t want to talk about it because for me it’s old news. Only Celta [Vigo] interests me.

“The good thing about football is that you can always avenge your defeats, and this week [revenge] may just be around the corner because the game is on Wednesday.

“I hope my players are aware that now is a good time to take their pride back. We have little room [for error] and we can’t afford to fail any longer.

“The team are aware that the next two games are more than vital. They’re two very important games because we need to fully engage on the fight against relegation.

“After the drubbing we took, we’ll also need a win [on Wednesday] so we can keep believing in what we’re doing.

“[Celta] are having a great campaign. I expect them to be a tough, tough team, who use the ball very well.

“I hope it’s a great game, with two teams going for the win. I’m sure it’ll be a very competitive game in that aspect.”
