‘Sevilla living for the moment’

Unai Emery has warned Sevilla that they “can’t live beyond the moment” following Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Levante in La Liga.

First-half goals from Kevin Gameiro and Jose Antonio Reyes at Ciutat de Valencia were enough to deem Kalu Uche’s late strike obsolete and push the Andalucians onto the same points tally as fourth-placed Valencia.

“The team are growing, we’re becoming more solid defensively and using our attacking options [more effectively],” the Coach said after the game.

“We did all of those things against a good Levante side. We managed to follow through our competitiveness to get the three points.

“Sixty-one points would normally be worth for the Champions League but now there are two great teams [Real Madrid and Barcelona] above us.

“We’re in a great run of form at the moment but can’t live beyond the moment. [Nonetheless], sixty-one points gives us credibility in this League.

“The League is our bread and butter. Each game is very intense and very important, and the points are always important, regardless of whether it’s Athletic [Bilbao] or Barcelona.

“The team’s attitude must be very good and I think the team showed that [against Levante]. It’s allowed us to reach this situation and continue dreaming [near the top].

“If we’re where we are in the table, it’s because we deserve it. I have confidence in my team and we’re thinking about the next game and maintaining these important aspirations of ours.

“We’re playing the League leaders and a great club in our next match. We’re dedicated and optimism, but if someone can end our unbeaten run at home it’s Barcelona.

“We can beat Barcelona at home, but we know we have to do a lot in order to get the win.”
