Gracia demands Malaga improvement

Javi Gracia has told his Malaga players they need to improve their away form if they are to achieve a Europa League place this season.

Los Blanquiazules have slipped up on their travels recently and hope to put things right when they take on Eibar at Ipurua on Tuesday.

“We’ve had some problems away from home and we need to give a better account of ourselves and fix that,” Gracia told a Press conference.

“We’ve experienced all kinds of situations and sometimes the result has gone for us, but we have now reached a stage where we are not doing so well. However, we are keen to get back to the level we were at so we can go even further.”

Malaga are five points off sixth place while Athletic Bilbao in eighth are still six points behind, and Gracia is keen for his team to finish as high as possible in the table.

“I’m optimistic we can go even higher, although we should have picked up three more points at the weekend. The reality is that there is still a gap to those below and we’ll now see how we respond.

“I’m expecting a very competitive game at Eibar because they’ve only lost games at home by a narrow margin and will fight right to the end.

“It will be close and if we don’t impose ourselves on them we could end up suffering like other teams,” he cautioned.
