Garitano optimistic over Eibar

Eibar boss Gaizka Garitano says he is confident his team are close to winning after not having tasted victory in the second half of the season.

The Basques have been in freefall since the turn of the year and are now just three points clear of the relegation zone. However, Garitano is convinced they are close to turning the corner.

“The way we’ve played in recent games makes me think we are closer to getting some positive news,” he maintained at a Press conference.

“We have improved with the ball, which has made me feel better, and I think it’s good we have a game so soon against Malaga.

“I prefer us to have a match on Tuesday, particularly after losing to Rayo Vallecano, as that’s what football is all about. We must return to war.

“Against Rayo I liked the way we played until they scored the first goal because we were doing a lot of things well and have to continue like that.

“If we can play for 60 minutes in that way instead of just 30 then we can make things very difficult for our opponents.”

Garitano acknowledged that Malaga have been one of the revelations of La Liga this season and believes they are a team with very few weaknesses.

“Malaga are a very complete team, one of the best in this League, and when we played at their ground we competed well and were on the verge of getting a good result.

“Away from home they are more careful but we need to start winning now and I’m not thinking any further than the game against them or making any calculations. That’s just wasting time.

“You never how many points you’ll need to stay up. We’ve been going through a bad patch but there are a lot of teams with problems that are also struggling to win,” he affirmed.
