Sergio calls for Espanyol consistency

Sergio Gonzalez called for his Espanyol players to be more consistent following the 1-1 home draw with Elche on Monday night.

Sergio Garcia gave Los Pericos the lead in the first half only for Cristian Herrera to equalise late on with a header to give the strugglers a share of the spoils.

“We need to find more consistency because today we thought we had the game wrapped up,” Sergio told reporters post-match.

“We gave them too much of the ball. However, we win together and we lose together. Sometimes we make bad decisions but I love the fact the fans here are very demanding.

“I’m very self-critical and although we all love to be applauded and encouraged it only takes a drop in work rate for that to turn into jeers.

“In a week where we have three games to play we can’t afford to think of anything else but improving and learning,” he added.
