Official: Almeria appoint Barjuan

Almeria have confirmed that Sergi Barjuan is to replace the axed Juan Ignacio Martinez at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos.

Barjuan, 43, will take charge of the Andalusians for the first time this Wednesday when they travel to face Barcelona, where he spent most of his career before moving on to Atletico Madrid.

The former left-back, who is a former Barca youth team Coach and also spent two years as boss at Recreativo de Huelva, takes over at Almeria with the club sitting precariously in the releagation zone and one point from safety.

Barjuan was presented at midday on Monday and will be hoping to steer the club to safety after picking up just six wins in the opening 29 La Liga fixtures
