Victor unhappy at Depor display

Deportivo la Coruna boss Victor Fernandez declared himself unhappy at his team’s performance in the 2-1 defeat at Getafe.

Goals from Alexis and Sergio Escudero in the opening 45 minutes put paid to the Galicians’ chances despite a second-half goal from Toche, and Fernandez conceded it was the way his team started the game that cost them.

“It’s easy to differentiate because this was a game in which they had the first half and we had the second,” he told a Press conference.

“In the opening 45 minutes we didn’t show any aggression and without taking anything away from Getafe we did not compete as we should have.

“After the break we took a step forward and tried to win but didn’t take advantage of our opportunities. A draw would have been a fair result but we were clueless twice in the same situation.

“We didn’t have the necessary attitude and were vulnerable defensively so it was difficult to get back into the game.

“When we got the chances we were not assertive enough,” he admitted.
