Busquets praises Barca efforts

Sergio Busquets was full of praise for his Barcelona teammates after they ground out a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo at Balaidos.

A Jeremy Mathieu header 18 minutes from time sealed the points for the Catalans and midfielder Busquets believes it was a performance that could go a long way towards winning La Liga this season.

“It was important to start well after the international break as places such as this are very difficult to come to,” he told reporters post-match.

“We began well but then they started to improve, although in the end all our efforts paid off because they slackened off and we took advantage of that.

“League titles are won and lost at ground like this. I know it’s a cliche but it’s true.”

The 26-year-old also commented on the bizarre sending-off of Fabian Orellana, who received a red card for throwing a piece of turf at the Barca player.

“He threw grass at me. It was strange but that’s why the referee is there, to ensure justice. It was a normal foul, he got angry. He made things difficult for himself but these things happen,” explained Busquets.
