Official: Almeria sack JIM

Almeria have announced that they have parted company with Coach Juan Ignacio Martinez after just 14 League games.

The former Levante and Valladolid boss was unveiled as Francisco Rodriguez’s successor in early December but won just four La Liga matches during his reign, with no victories in the last seven.

Consequently, Saturday’s 4-1 home defeat by Levante was the last straw, with a statement on the club’s official website explaining Martinez made “a really promising start” but that they were still “anchored to the bottom of the table”.

Additionally, the Andalucians were concerned by “the vibes of the past few weeks, along with results”.

First-team trainer Miguel Rivera, who took over for one game when Francisco was dismissed earlier in the season, will reassume interim duties until a new Coach is found.
