Busquets: Grass incident strange

Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets has refused to comment on whether he felt Fabian Orellana’s act of throwing grass at him was worthy of a red card.

The Celta Vigo forward was given his marching orders towards the end of the match at Balaidos on Sunday for lashing a piece of turf in the face of the midfielder, who preferred to focus on his side’s 1-0 victory after the game.

“It was important to start well after the break. [Balaidos] is very difficult venue to play at,” he said.

“We started well but then they grew into the game. In the end we were rewarded for the efforts. Eventually, they dropped off and we took advantage of.

“Our fitness is very important from this point onwards because we’ll be playing twice a week for the next two months.

“The calendar’s very difficult but we’re still competing on all fronts and what we wanted today [the win] cost more [than usual] because it’s always difficult after the international break.

“We also believe that we’re more competitive this season [compared to the last], but we’ve also improved in attack.

“These pitches are where Leagues are won. It’s a cliche but true.

“I had grass thrown at me [by Orellana]. I found it strange but the referee found it necessary to serve justice.

“It was a normal foul and he was angry. He made the situation difficult for himself, but these things happen.”
