Fuego signs on at Valencia

Javi Fuego has signalled his intention to see out the remainder of his career with Valencia by extending his contract until 2017.

The defensive midfielder’s deal was due to expire at the end of next season, but he has now bound himself to Los Che for a further year, with the option of a second.

“It’s a very exciting day for me,” he told Valencia’s official website.

“I remember the first day I arrived here, I said it was a dream come true and a reward for my entire career.

“Now I can continue with the dream I began two years ago. I’m happy for my family among everything else. [Valencia] are the club I want to be at.

CEO Amadeo Salvo added: “We’re very happy that Javi Fuego wants to carry on with us.

“He’s earned his renewal for his effort, work, initiative and values off the pitch. [Javi] is a player who deserves to continue [at Valencia].”

Fuego, a former Spain youth international, arrived at Mestalla in the summer of 2013 after three seasons with Rayo Vallecano.
