Bebe regrets Cordoba mistake

Cordoba striker Bebe says he regrets the mistake he made in mid-February by going out partying following the 2-1 home defeat to Valencia.

Bebe went out on the town with four other players – Nabil Ghilas, Tiago Dias, Fausto Rossi and Rene Krhin – after the game, while they were expected in training at 10.30am the following day for a warm-down.

It was a decision that Bebe, who joined the Andalusians on loan from Benfica in January, says he now regrets but rejects accusations that he does not care about struggling Cordoba’s fate this season.

“I know it was not the right time to go out but these things happen and I now regret what I did. We went out to eat and then spent a few hours at a local disco and it was wrong.” the 24-year-old told Mundo Deportivo.

“We are in a bad situation and people may think I don’t care, but it isn’t like that. The fans might think I’m a Benfica player and I’ll be going back there in May, so I’m not bothered. I want to make it clear that’s not the case.

“We needed a radical change and new Coach Jose Antonio Romero has altered some things and he is constantly talking.

“If you are playing badly he explains things to you and tells you where you’re going wrong and I think the players are learning a lot from him.”

La Liga’s bottom club face Atletico Madrid at the Nuevo Arcangel this Saturday and Bebe believes his team has every chance of causing an upset.

“Nothing is impossible. We were on the verge of beating Real Madrid [in January] so why can’t we go on and beat Atletico?

“After that we’ve got Elche, Deportivo and Villarreal and those are teams we can beat.

“If we can put together two wins in a row we would be back up there because our rivals are always losing,” he claimed.
