Suarez steals the show at Anfield

Luis Suarez was the star of the show on his return to Anfield on Sunday to play in a charity match in aid of the Liverpool FC Foundation.

The Barcelona star was introduced as a half-time substitute, along with another former Liverpool player Fernando Torres, and won the penalty that allowed Steven Gerrard to level from the penalty spot as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

It was the first time the Uruguayan had been back to his former home after his move to Spain at the start of this season and he received a rapturous reception from supporters who once idolised him.

The game, between sides organised by Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, got off to a great start with Mario Balotelli breaking the deadlock with a long-range effort before the Italian fed Didier Drogba to make it 2-0.

After the break Gerrard converted twice from the spot to ensure the match finished all square.
