Madrid keen on Leno

Real Madrid have set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen stopper Bernd Leno as they seek a replacement for Iker Casillas.

According to Marca, the 23-year-old has come under scrutiny in recent weeks after impressing in Bayer’s Champions League matches against Atletico Madrid, with Los Blancos ready make a move for him in the summer.

David de Gea, Augusto Batalla and Petr Cech have all been linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu but it now appears that Leno has emerged as the new name on boss Carlo Ancelotti’s shortlist.

Leno, a Germany Under-21 international, joined Bayer from Stuttgart in November 2011, having previously been on loan at the club, and became only the third goalkeeper in history to keep a clean sheet in his first three Bundesliga games.
