Atletico Madrid will reportedly attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer after being given the green light by his agent.
According to German newspaper Bild, Los Colchoneros have already begun preparing for next season and earmarked the 24-year-old as the ideal reinforcement, with the likes of Koke and Mario Suarez being tipped to leave the club.
The publication adds that officials from the Spanish champions spoke to Gundogan's agent during their Champions League last-16 second leg against Bayer Leverkusen and received encouragment to make a bid.
However, Atleti will face fierce competition for Gundogan's signature as several clubs from England and Italy are also interested in landing the playmaker.
The Germany international missed the 2014 World Cup with a back injury but has since made a full recovery, making 23 appearances for Dortmund this season.
