Johnson offered to Barca?

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has reportedly been offered to Barcelona as a potential replacement for Dani Alves.

The England right-back is out of contract at the end of the season, and Sport claims he is being considered as a possible alternative to the Brazilian, who is also facing a Bosman scenario this summer.

It is believed that Johnson's expiring status has made him a viable proposition for La Blaugrana as they would not have to pay a fee for his services, but his track record of injuries may deter them from formalising their interest.

In addition, the club's transfer embargo means they will not be able to register him until next January, leaving them with Douglas and Martin Montoya as their only right-back options for the first half of 2015-16.

The Catalan daily adds that Barca have still not sat down with Alves' agent and ex-wife Dinorah Santa Ana about a renewal, while an offer from Paris Saint-Germain remains on the table.

Johnson – a £10m arrival from Portsmouth in 2009 – has made just 14 Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.
