‘De Gea should stay at Man Utd’

Pepe Reina believes David de Gea “should be happy enough to play for Manchester United” in light of speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

The goalkeeper, 23, has long been tipped to succeed Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabeu and, with still no renewal forthcoming, could leave the Red Devils for nothing at the end of next season.

However, the former Liverpool No 1 claims De Gea would be doing United a disservice if he decided to leave them for Los Blancos.

“]De Gea] is one of the top goalkeepers in Europe and this year he has been superb,' Reina told talkSPORT.

“Maybe Real Madrid are looking for a goalkeeper and De Gea is one of the names suggested, but I think he should be happy enough to play for [Manchester] United.”

Reina – deputy to Casillas at both Euro 2008 and 2012 and the 2010 World Cup with Spain – is currently behind Manuel Neuer in the pecking order at Bayern Munich, having joined the German champions last summer.
