Chicharito ‘motivated’ for Mexico

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez says he is still motivated to play for his country despite hardly featuring for Real Madrid at club level this season.

The 26-year-old Mexican is on a season-long loan at the Santiago Bernabeu from Manchester United but has made just 13 La Liga appearances and started just once during the 2014-15 campaign.

However, Hernandez told Mexican publication La Prensa that he hopes to be in the starting line-up for El Tri in Saturday’s friendly with Ecuador at the Los Angeles Coliseum, where a 90,000 sell-out crowd is expected.

“I’ve come here with a lot of motivation and a great desire. What I’m hoping to do is take advantage of this chance to do what I love most, which is wearing the Mexico shirt,” said Hernandez.

“Whenever I’ve got this opportunity before I’ve always tried to do the best I can but it’s been a year of many experiences for me.

“Unfortunately the only thing that’s been lacking recently is playing time with my team, nothing more.”
