Real Sociedad right-back Joseba Zaldua believes the Basques are still capable of fighting for a Europa League place this season.
David Moyes’ team currently sit ninth in the table, eight points behind seventh-placed Malaga, but Zaldua feels it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that they could sneak into a European place despite a disappointing start to the campaign.
“It’s going to be difficult but if you looked at us a month ago nobody would have said we had a chance of getting into Europe.
“If they’d told you that then you wouldn’t have believed them, although I accept we are still far away from it.
“However, we’ll be trying with everything we’ve got because it’s sufficiently exciting to motivate us a little more from now until the end of the season.”
